WETSUIT CARE GUIDE

WETSUIT CARE GUIDE

Cleaning, drying, and hanging your wetsuit properly can extend its lifespan and maintain its performance. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Cleaning:

  • Rinse Immediately: After use, rinse your wetsuit thoroughly with fresh water. This helps remove salt, sand, and other debris that can damage the material over time.

  • Use a Wetsuit Cleaner (Optional): You can use a wetsuit-specific cleaning solution or a gentle, non-detergent soap to clean your wetsuit. Follow the instructions on the product label for best results.

  • Spot Clean: If there are stubborn stains or odors, you can spot clean them with a soft brush or cloth using the wetsuit cleaner.

  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using bleach, harsh detergents, or solvents as they can damage the neoprene material.

Drying:

  • Shake Out Excess Water: Before hanging, gently shake the wetsuit to remove excess water. This can help speed up the drying process.

  • Hang to Drip Dry: Hang your wetsuit by the waist or by the shoulders on a wetsuit specific hanger in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause the neoprene to deteriorate over time.

  • Avoid Sharp Edges: Avoid hanging your wetsuit on sharp or rough surfaces, as they can cause tears or damage to the material.

  • Hang inside Out: To ensure thorough drying, turn your wetsuit inside out. Once inside is dry turn right side out and let front completely dry as well. This helps air circulate better and prevents moisture buildup.

  • Avoid Folding: Do not fold your wetsuit while drying, as this can cause creases and damage the material.

Storage:

Proper storage of your wetsuit is crucial for maintaining its shape, flexibility, and overall lifespan. Here's how to store your wetsuit correctly:

  • Store Properly: Once dry, store your wetsuit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Make sure it is thoroughly cleaned and dried following the steps mentioned earlier. Any residual salt, sand, or moisture can lead to mold and mildew growth during storage.

  • Avoid folding or compressing it for extended periods, as this can cause permanent creasing.

  • Occasional Inspection: Periodically inspect your stored wetsuit for any signs of damage, mold, or mildew. If you notice any issues, address them promptly to prevent further damage.

By following these steps, you can effectively clean, dry, and hang your wetsuit, prolonging its lifespan and ensuring optimal performance for your water adventures.
